Matthew 14:24-28 (KJV): But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

I have often said that many people criticise Peter because he almost drowned when he attempted to go to Jesus.
But those critics do not realise that Peter was much better than the disciples who remained in the boat– he actually walked on water.
What is even more interesting is this–this sea was not calm. The waters that Peter tried to walk upon were not still. The Bible clearly tells us that the ship was in the middle of the sea, tossed with waves for the wind was contrary.
It’s one thing to step out of the boat when the sea is tranquil and peaceful. It is another to do so when it is windy and your boat is being battered by the water. That is faith!
Peter’s boldness is a lesson to us all. Many times, when we read that the winds of life are contrary, the economy is contrary, the opinions of men are contrary, we are too afraid to take risks, to step out into the unknown and depend on the Lord whose simple instruction was ‘Come.’
But today, I urge you, like Peter, to ignore the high waves and the winds rocking your boat and look at the Lord who knows that even when the sea is rough, your faith is enough and will keep you standing.
Hallelujah!

GOLDEN NUGGET: It’s one thing to step out of the boat when the sea is tranquil and peaceful. It is another to do so when it is windy and your boat is being battered by the water. Ignore the high waves and the winds rocking your boat and look at the Lord who knows that even when the sea is rough, your faith is enough and will keep you standing.
PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this truth. Thank You for the boldness to step out of my comfort zone even when the winds are contrary. My eyes are set on You knowing that You keep me in perfect peace in spite of the storms raging around me, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
